Looking for a quintessential Mendocino County experience during your September getaway? Plan a day trip to the Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show in Booneville, happening September 12–14, 2025. Just about an hour’s drive from Rendezvous Mendocino, this beloved annual fair is filled with small-town charm, agricultural heritage, and, of course, incredible local wine.
From apple pies and livestock shows to carnival rides and live music, the Booneville Fair offers something for everyone. One of the fair’s highlights is the prestigious wine competition, showcasing the very best of Mendocino County’s winemaking. We’re especially proud that Rendezvous Mendocino’s own Diane Bacarro—certified sommelier and wine educator—served as a judge for this year’s competition, bringing her expertise and refined palate to help select the winners. ✨ Diane’s Wine Pick “This year I had the pleasure of judging the Pinot Noir category, and the level of quality was outstanding. The Double Gold award went to the 2023 Girasole Vineyards Pinot Noir, a beautifully balanced wine that truly impressed the panel. My personal standout, however, was the 2023 DIRT Pinot Noir, which showed incredible depth and character. I’d also give a high honorable mention to the 2022 St. Gregory Pinot Noir—a classic expression that’s always a pleasure to enjoy.” The fair makes for a perfect day trip from Rendezvous Mendocino. Spend the day soaking up the festive atmosphere, tasting award-winning wines, and enjoying the beauty of Anderson Valley. Then, return to the coast for the cool, cozy comfort of Rendezvous Mendocino—your private retreat by the sea. With the Booneville Fair just around the corner, now is the time to book your stay.
