Our Story

Damien and Diane Baccaro met and fell in love in Los Angeles, but they always knew they belonged in Northern California. Even as their adventures took them all over the world, they returned again and again to this dramatic coastline. With decades of experience in hospitality, and real-world experience as travelers, they devised the concept of Rendezvous. In their own travels they sought out the unusual and finding those hidden gems always created the best memories! So they endeavored to create a space that amused their guests with kitschy charm and unique art yet also met all the creature comforts. Beyond the comfort of the rooms, they also wanted a setting that invited the peace and tranquility that comes from immersing yourself in nature.

After combing California for years, they finally came across the opportunity to purchase the (former) North Coast Country Inn, just blocks away from where they stayed the first magical time they visited this area. They could hardly believe their luck!

With love and patience they have been restoring this beautiful Bed and Breakfast and implementing their own design and vision. Unlike most bed and breakfasts, even though Damien and Diane live on site and share their home with guests, the rooms are individual cabins with private entrances and decks. This gives the best of both worlds, old-fashioned hospitality with plenty of privacy and autonomy.

Rendezvous is a meeting place for friends and lovers, but also a coming together of towering Redwoods and the rocky shore, and most importantly a place where mind and body can reconnect with the natural world.

The Black Cats of Rendezvous

Nico
Picture
One of our pandemic kittens, Nico is Nina’s littermate. Who didn’t adopt a pet in 2020? This sleek little panther prowls the gardens keeping unwanted vermin away or pounces on his unsuspecting sister. He also enjoys acrobatics such as ascending and descending to and from our second floor balcony and supervising our work when we’re housekeeping. You’ll recognize him by his impossibly big round eyes and the white spot on his chest.
Kermit the Dog
Picture
Ok, so he’s not technically a cat, but he certainly has the personality of one! A 7 lb chihuahua, he joined our family in March 2023 – adopted from Underdog Rescue in the bay area. Kermit is a quirky little guy who marches to the beat of his own drum and he doesn’t give a you-know-what about what you think about it. His passions are basking in the sun and keeping watch over the inn from the upstairs window.

Nina
Picture
Nina is our other pandemic impulse adoption and is Nico’s littermate. While her brother is sleek and savvy – Nina is more like a derpy marshmallow. An absolute darling, she loves nothing more than rolling around in the garden on a sunny day or following us around the property. You’ll know her by the striking stripe down her nose and her butterfly lips. She will most likely be upside down with her feet in the air.

Buster
Picture
Buster came into our lives in the beginning of 2024 as a 16 week old puppy (ok, ok, he’s not a cat, either. Who named this section anyway??). Oh boy, we’d never had a puppy before! A mix of chihuahua, poodle, min pin, and pug he is 100% adorable! Full of vigor and mischief he enjoys stealing all of Kermit’s toys and treats, wrestling Cookie, and running on the beach. His exuberant enthusiasm for life reminds us all that we should enjoy every moment.
Cookie
Picture
As a polydactyl, Cookie has lots of extra toes to help make our famous biscuits. A total nutcase, you will likely find her in a tree, peering into your room like a creepy stalker, or “singing” in a loud, throaty voice. She loves to roll around in the sun and is likely to 1. Roll down the stairs, 2. Roll off your deck, 3. Roll into a bush. We adopted her in 2024 from the Redwood Coast Humane Society, our local shelter. She’s a flirty little vixen with fluff for brains, but gosh, we love her!
Judge Judy (Ju-Ju)
Picture
RIP Judge Judy (the cat). Our beloved Judy passed in November 2024, just weeks away from her 20th birthday. Adopted the year after Diane graduated college (no math, please) she accompanied her on the grand adventure of early adulthood and lived in Washington, Oregon, and both southern and northern California. It means the world to Diane that Judge Judy was a part of Rendezvous for the first 4 years of business. She is forever missed.
