Our StoryDamien and Diane Baccaro met and fell in love in Los Angeles, but they always knew they belonged in Northern California. Even as their adventures took them all over the world, they returned again and again to this dramatic coastline. With decades of experience in hospitality, and real-world experience as travelers, they devised the concept of Rendezvous. In their own travels they sought out the unusual and finding those hidden gems always created the best memories! So they endeavored to create a space that amused their guests with kitschy charm and unique art yet also met all the creature comforts. Beyond the comfort of the rooms, they also wanted a setting that invited the peace and tranquility that comes from immersing yourself in nature. After combing California for years, they finally came across the opportunity to purchase the (former) North Coast Country Inn, just blocks away from where they stayed the first magical time they visited this area. They could hardly believe their luck! With love and patience they have been restoring this beautiful Bed and Breakfast and implementing their own design and vision. Unlike most bed and breakfasts, even though Damien and Diane live on site and share their home with guests, the rooms are individual cabins with private entrances and decks. This gives the best of both worlds, old-fashioned hospitality with plenty of privacy and autonomy. Rendezvous is a meeting place for friends and lovers, but also a coming together of towering Redwoods and the rocky shore, and most importantly a place where mind and body can reconnect with the natural world. |
The Black Cats of Rendezvous
Judge Judy (Ju-Ju)
Diane adopted Judy in March of 2005 when she was just 4 months old. Together they have lived up and down the West Coast. She has lived up to her name—a no-nonsense gal who lays down the law and is not to be contradicted. Nico, Nina, and Kermit all respect her authority and she is the queen of the house. You’ll know her by her all black coat and judgmental look on her face. In her old age she mostly enjoys sleeping in the sun on the deck in good weather, sleeping by the heater in the house in winter, and drinking her morning saucer of cream. |
Nico
One of our pandemic kittens, Nico is Nina’s littermate. Who didn’t adopt a pet in 2020? This sleek little panther prowls the gardens keeping unwanted vermin away or pounces on his unsuspecting sister. He also enjoys acrobatics such as ascending and descending to and from our second floor balcony and supervising our work when we’re housekeeping. You’ll recognize him by his impossibly big round eyes and the white spot on his chest. Kermit the Dog
Ok, so he’s not technically a cat, but he certainly has the personality of one! A 7 lb chihuahua, he joined our family in March 2023—adopted from Underdog Rescue in the bay area. Absolutely devoted to Judge Judy, he guards her while she’s eating so the other cats don’t disturb her and enjoys giving her kisses. He also enjoys tussling with Nico and following Diane while she gathers laundry or works in the garden. You might not know it, but he’s watching you from our upstairs window. |
Nina
Nina is our other pandemic impulse adoption and is Nico’s littermate. While her brother is sleek and savvy – Nina is more like a derpy marshmallow. An absolute darling, she loves nothing more than rolling around in the garden on a sunny day or following us around the property. You’ll know her by the striking stripe down her nose and her butterfly lips. She will most likely be upside down with her feet in the air. |
